416 Pipes is a musical duo based in Toronto Canada, who combine the distinctive sound of the bagpipes with high-energy percussion and rhythms. Our name "416 Pipes" is a combination of Toronto's telephone area code, and 'pipes', a short form of bagpipes. |
416 Pipes consists of Liam and Chris, two cousins who have been performing together since 2013. Through our hundreds of hours playing side-by-side, we've developed strong synergy and versatility. We both enjoy a wide variety of different types of music, and love bringing many different musical genres to life through our performances. On weekends when we're not booked for events, you'll likely find us performing for crowds on the sidewalks of downtown Toronto. |
Liam is a top tier bagpiper, who's been playing since age 11. He's a member of a major Toronto pipe band, which regularly competes at events all over Ontario, the US, and Scotland. In addition to the Scottish Highland Bagpipes, Liam also plays the Irish Uilleann Pipes. |
Chris is an accomplished musician and multi-instrumentalist who has played with many music groups over the years. He serves as the one-man rhythm section for 416 Pipes and primarily plays percussion on the cajón. When performing Irish celtic music, Chris usually switches to acoustic guitar. |
